This is an image of a painting by Cy Twombly. The painting is called Proteus and was created in 1984. The style of the painting is Neo-Expressionism, and to create this image the artist used synthetic polymer, colored pencil, and graphite on paper.
I like this image, because even thought the artist uses very vibrant colours, like red. The whole image does not turn out to be to bright etc. Instead because he uses a lighter colour on top of the red, the image becomes less intense. I also like how the actual subject of the image is unclear, it does seem like a flower, but it seems like it's left like that for everyone imagination to decide.
